| Nadège DUMAS,
the Bone’s Project soul girl, who’s got the
Groove running in her veins.
Nadège grew up in Brittany where she took her first
music lessons, starting with violin before switching to
clarinet.
Aged 20, she finally picked the tenor sax as her main instrument
and integrated the JAM, a Jazz school in Montpellier, where
she had settled to study agronomy.
She moved to Toulouse in 1988, studying saxophone with
teacher Richard CALLEJA. She started playing semi-professionally
while still working as an agronomy engineer. She cut a first
album as part of Jazz Time Big Band with a prestigious special
guest: soprano sax player Steve LACY.

It was in Toulouse she discovered
Funk and Soul with Maceo PARKER before getting into regular
hands-on practice with local Afro-Fonk-Rock outfit PANIQUE
AU PADDOCK.

Her encounter with Boney FIELDS in 1995 was a turning point,
both as a musician and in her personal life. It was the
offer she could not refuse: she gave up agronomy to become
a professional sax player. She moved to Paris in 1998, becoming
at once a fulltime member of the Bone’s Project.
As The Project developed, Nadège skilfully took
over management and organisation. And while she was working
day and night to find the best possible opportunities for
the band, she still managed to keep doing what she did best:
hitting the stage and blow her horn!
She toured in the US with Bernard ALLISON, played live with
Lucky PETERSON, Karim Albert KOOK, Patrick VERBEKE, RAS
NAYA and participated to the recordings of Fred CHAPELLIER
or Juju CHILD CDs.
Her most influential players are Mickaël BRECKER,
Kenny GARRET, Maceo PARKER, Candy DULFER, David SANBORN
... Nothing but the best…
She simply has got what it takes. Nadège is a soul
girl, allright…
