Kiko MATTIOLI : Bone's last killer recruit from Italy !

Even as a kid, Kiko always knew he would be a drummer one day. His family, Italian immigrants who had settled in Paris, couldn't afford to get the boy a drum kit. So he began playing music on the family piano.

He switched to guitar after a few years until his brother finally offered him his lifetime dream  for his 16th birthday: a drum kit. He joined almost immediately his brother's band, making his first stage appearance without any drumming lesson. He recorded his first album only a few months later.

Essentially self-taught, Kiko spent a year learning sight reading at his local music conservatory.

A professional musician since 1999, he has played with Gary Karp's Blues De Ville, mainstream jazz singer Cecile Nodie as well as the funk-reggae band «Entre 2 et 3 ». he also recorded an album for Volo (ex-Wriggles) and was credited on several French feature films' original scores.

But before all, he has been a band member of the Mauro Serri Trio, an acclaimed French guitar player who played with Luther Allison, Michel Jonasz, Johnny Halliday, Bernard Lavilliers, Bill Deraime and many more...

Meeting with Mike Armoogum in July 2004 was a turning point in his career. Transfixed by Kiko's talent and especially his ability to play Sega (Mauritian music), Mike convinced guitarist Philippe Turlo to take Kiko on board in the Philippe Turlo Trio. Mike also introduced him to Boney Fields. Kiko soon started playing with the Bone's Project in replacement of Fred Bintner in January 2005.

A hard worker, incredibly nice and of great humility, Kiko may well look shy, even withdrawn. But stuff a pair of drumsticks into his hands and he will transform himself into this incredible drummer, with a hard drive and a killer groove. He may not even know about it, but the man is bound to become one hell of a drummer !
