| In
1999, Boney released his first CD under the name of his band «
The Bone’s Project »
10 tracks among which seven 7 original compositions perfectly illustrate
Boney’s musical world; a repertoire that goes back to the
origins of blues but also offers a real variety of rhythms, from
traditional Chicago blues to wild Rock and Roll as well as funky
groove in the same vein as Cameo. The repertoire also includes some
Reggae with an outstanding remake of “Express Yourself”.
Bernard Allison has been contributing to several titles, providing
them with the lightness of his guitar licks as well as his excellent
slide.
The CD has been welcomed by the press (see comments below) and
by the public.

"Boney
FIELDS, former trumpet player of Luther ALLISON and Lucky PETERSON,
with his broad braids and his bowler hat, is a genuine showman
who cannot be ignored. He just recorded his first album under
his own name. Blues, Soul and funky-tainted R & B music of
which he composed 7 of the 10 titles (...). The energy of the
music is reinforced by the power of his vocals. (...). It's well
done and you will enjoy the show especially if you like "blowers".

Boney FIELDS is most definitely a force to be reckoned with and
can surely toot some impressive horn work. On this release he
even had a guest appearence by the man himself, Bernard ALLISON.
This CD is basically a jazz fused blues theme. It’s well
done and highly recomanded.

"Boney
Fields, singer and trumpet player, gives us a wonderful example
of modern blues-funk music, without the gimmicks used in pop or
world music. The group's gargantuan rythms are enhanced by an
awesome brass section; and the solo players efficiently provide
depth to the gifted lead singer's vocals, far from the usual clichés.
The compositions of extreme quality , the call and response of
the brass section with the vocals (« Movin' on up »),
the beat diversity, the groovy enthusiasm and a sophisticated
but mannerism-less style ... There's nothing left to add ! Their
newly-born album is released at the right time to remind us what
nowadays commercial music owe to afro-american music, the latter
possessing a still unequalled blues-fed rythm and feeling."
